Birth is a life event, not a medical event.
This statement launched me into my journey of perinatal support with the goal of providing holistic and nurturing care to women and their families.
​Since I can remember, the desire to come alongside people and help them through their different health journeys has been placed in my heart by the LORD. I graduated pre-med from college in 1996 and anticipated a long journey to medical school. But the LORD had other plans. He knew that my heart’s desire would be best fulfilled in providing health education and support to women and their families. I press on this journey with great anticipation and trust that the LORD has already prepared the work He wants me to do.

I am a birth doula, a lactation consultant, a student midwife, and a public health specialist. My journey was preceded by 4 years as a community health educator (1996-2001), as a lactation consultant since 2002, and a Master of Public Health in 2004.
I desired to support mothers with safe places to labor and birth their babies, so I pursued training and was certified as a birth doula in 2019. The experiences I’ve had as a doula have opened my eyes to the overuse of hospital interventions and impersonal care. This produced a yearning in my heart to protect the birthing space as a life event for families. To accomplish this, I ventured to add the path of midwifery care services as a student midwife in October of 2023.
When I stop to smell the flowers on this journey, you may find me enjoying a good flick with my family or studying God’s Word. The LORD has blessed my husband and I with three beautiful daughters. They await the day when I can support their labor, birth, and postpartum in the comfort of their homes. Other quick stops on my journey include serving at my church and ministering to the high school students that are part of our worship music team. And when the LORD opens a door, you may find me traveling to the Dominican Republic or Mexico to offer perinatal support as a short-term missionary.
